As a native West Michigander, it’s simple: I plan a trip to glorious Lake Michigan with my girlfriends! The water is shockingly cold! But on hot days it’s deliciously refreshing. What do you do to cool off from the August heat? 

August is a great month for us. By the time August rolls around our summer is winding down. We aren't travelling anymore, and Joey isn't gone to church camps. It's great to have that down time to reconnect and since we're big movie lovers, we beat the heat by staying in, or going out to the movies and seeing some of the big summer blockbusters. It's also the time for our town's annual Watermelon Round-up Festival so we have a great time going to that, eating fair food and all the ice cold watermelon we can eat, and shopping at booth's set up by local craftsmen and women.

Charred Chicken and a Cracked Kitchen Sink Pipe

I'm sure all of us have had those nights where it just seems to be one thing after another, after another. Yesterday night ended up being one of those nights, first we were grilling chicken on the grill, and the chicken somehow completely caught on fire, the skin entirely charred. Off to KFC it was! Then while Sean was washing the dishes, he was feeling a drip on his foot. We looked underneath the kitchen sink and there must have a cracked pipe or something. Our kitchen ended up with water all over the floor. But that is life right?! You just gotta roll with the punches, right?

I used to be a runner in high school, but I've been slacking in the whole exercise department ever since. I plan on acheiving this goal by getting a membership at a gym, or maybe even by making a weekly list of exercises to stick to. Hey, it's a start! :)
