Friday's Fancies 4th of July edition

You have until July 11 to do so.Last night because I was still in the 4th of July mood and because we still have food from our bbq, we had a re-creation of our 4th of July menu, burgers, hot dogs, homemade baked beans, etc. So I told Sean it was theme night, American was the theme. So after dinner we had to watch a very American movie. Out of three movies I provided him, The American President, America's Sweetheart and Chuck Norris The President's Man, he went for Chuck Norris. I mean how more American can you get with Chuck Norris.To continue with the American-ness, a Friday's Fancies outfit for you 4th of July edition. I haven't done one of these for a bit and I wonder why because I missed creating an outfit to finish off the week with a bit of fashion or a throw out the budget type of outfit.To finish off this 4th of July celebration, here is a fun outfit I put together, of course I love a chambray top and a red bottom, speaking of I have a pair of red pants, why don't I own some red shorts yet?

Happy weekend everyone! I know Sean has planned a fun day of kayaking tomorrow and then one of my favorite summer activities starts on Sunday nights. Last year we made it a weekly tradition of riding our bikes to our city's local concerts in the park and stopping off and picking up dinner somewhere in between the 6 blocks we have to ride. So this Sunday night we will be ridin' then eatin' then rockin' out to classic rock.

Independence Day Re-cap

Right now as I am writing this, booms are going off everywhere around me. Boom, boom, boom! Yes I definitely live in a town where fireworks are legal. Then tomorrow because of the area where I live in L.A., right up to the foothill, all the smoke from the fireworks will settle right along the mountain, sigh... oh well the run must go on.

Speaking of running, yesterday, Sean and I started our 4th of July with a local 5K, and my running partner joined us for the run. Then right back home to prep for our afternoon bbq of hamburgers, hot dogs, deviled eggs(my secret ingredient is hickory smoked salt), homemade baked beans and a fruit salad. We had the addition of a broccoli salad, sangria, chips and guacamole thanks to some of our friends.

Hope everyone had a great and safe 4th of July!

Happy Independence Day!

Sean and I are starting our day off with a 5K race and then having a bbq with friends later.

What are you doing for 4th of July?

I know it is a holiday and you want to spend some time with your family and friends enjoying delicious bbq, maybe watermelon (I know I certainly will, yum!), ice cream, but I am gonna ask you to do a favor. Read some of our Declaration of Independence! Get a copy of that sucker out, or find it online somewhere. Wherever you happen to find it, just read it because it should be the American thing to do.

Get to know more about our government, and learn more than whatever you were taught in your American government class. Or if you need to brush up on what our founding Fathers wrote. Once you do that then you are free to enjoy the rest of your holiday to your heart's content and please do because I certainly intend to and celebrate the freedom we are blessed with in this great country of ours!

I want to send a HUGE thank you to our troops to continue to fight for the freedoms this country was founded on. They and their families serve so selflessly, and this country can never thank them enough for what they do to allow the rest of this country to live in peace and freedom.

Bacholerette Episode #8

Before we discuss the hometown dates and last night's episode, I saw this last week on Heidi's blog and can't stop laughing for some reason. I had to share this with you all.

Chris's hometown:
All I can is I am ready for Chris to go home already, is anyone else with me? Ok I have a confession, I didn't start watching last night's episode until Jef's hometown because Sean and I were at Home Depot buying supplies to make the game, ladder ball. But I was down with Chris last week so I wasn't too disappointed I missed his hometown.

Jef's hometown:
It is interesting to see the reversal of when the guys plan the hometown date and shooting that was cute. Sean commented on their picture perfect hay bench and background saying, it is too perfect.
I thought Emily would fit in perfectly with Jef's siblings, his sisters were really sweet.

Arie's hometown:
Hm.. Arie picking Indy car, risking choice there dude. It was cute Emily was really dressed up during their picnic and Arie was wearing his white t-shirt and jeans. I thought Arie you weren't calming Emily down at all about meeting your mother, you were actually making me nervous to meet her, although that would never happen. That I love you so they will love you line was really smooth Arie. Emily you better learn Dutch real fast if you are to marry Arie.

Sean's hometown:
My outfit by far out of the four hometowns was Sean's, that dress of hers was absolutely gorgeous and I love it and want it. How many picnics can a girl go on before she gets tired of them do you think? I think Emily's daughter would love to play in Sean's backyard and would have instant cousins. That was a cruel joke to play on Emily, I was gonna say the perfection curtain has fallen down but nope, it was a joke! Sean's daddy was so sweet, and I love how he said there is something magical going on here. Why is Sean always running? Running to get another kiss?

Rose ceremony:
Always so dramatic of course and like I said in Chris's hometown date, it was time. Chris the odds are not in your favor because only one guy will be left standing, and you had a 25% chance but sorry that quarter just didn't have your name on it. Chris, I know it is hard but if Emily made you a believer in love, you will find another girl who will make you a believer again.

Why Emily is a girl after my own heart, because she goes to Prague and because she goes to Curacao, both places I absolutely loved when I visited.

p.s. Sean's family seems like quite a bunch of jokesters.

Hostess with the Mostess - 4th of July edition

Happy Monday! What a great weekend with my cousin, I always enjoy hanging out with her and we just have the best time. Friday night when I landed, we went to a food truck fest called Moveable Feast. Only at a food truck can you have a Cuban sandwich along with a deep-fried tofu steamed bun and an ice cream sandwich with mango ice cream.

Saturday we headed up to SF, which we tend to do when I came into town. We went to unique SF, which was a diy vendor market. Tons of great and creative jewelry, plus free food samples and even drinks. I saw a cute tinted lip balm by a company of two sisters' who live about 20 minutes from me. I say gotta support your local folks. After browsing around unique SF for like 3 hours we headed to a high-end retail store called Jeremy's who was having a ridiculously low-priced sale. Finally, we headed back to San Jose but on our way to get back to the freeway, we drove past another food truck fest. We said, "dinner!" This time having Indian food and mac and cheese topped with pulled pork, yummy!
Sunday we went to a farmer's market, did a bit of shopping and then took a 2 hour hike.
Ok that was my weekend, how was yours?

For the next installment of the Hostess with the Mostess, it is only fit that I focus on 4th of July today.
