Bootie Love

What did you do last night? We had a nice evening of walking the dogs, playing frisbee with them a bit then it was off to Yogurtland to snack on it while we watched our Thursday night TV, SNL Weekend Update Thursday, Up All Night, The Office and Parks and Rec. Out of all the nights of TV, this is the only night we really set time aside together to watch shows. I laughed to political clips with SNL actors while eating vanilla, strawberry lemonade sorbet and blackberry passion fruit sorbet.

In hopes of fall coming soon here in southern California,(it does not seem to be coming anytime soon, today is suppose to be triple digits!) and to ease into the transition of wearing fall clothes, I have the perfect solution for you, booties! Clearly I am not quite ready weather-wise to pull my boots out of their summer hibernation in the back of my closet so booties are that transition.
I have been searching high and low for a cute pair and finally found them on Ebay. In my midst of my search, I thought I would share a few other cute pairs that I found and even similar pairs with a price difference.

How similar do the Kohls and Dolce Vita booties looks and with the major price difference?
How do you wear booties? Just a few styling suggestions for you.

You can wear booties with skirts, shorts, pants, jeans, they are a versatile shoe and a must in your closet this season.
The booties I ended up purchasing are these beauties:
Have a great weekend all!

What I'm Loving Recently (2nd edition)

I loved sharing with you all some products whether clothes or beauty products that I am swooning over recently. Last week with the positive response I received I decided to do this type of post again and I also realized that many many of you own those Target wedges and I only recently learned about them (how is that possible).
A bit of a disappointment with the Neutrogena facial wash I posted, I receive a sample in my Target spring beauty bag. However, with my sample running out, I need to buy the regular size. Since I received it from Target, I figured it would be on the shelves at my local Target. I am wrong! Where do I buy this awesome face wash? Neutrogena, where can I buy your local brightening facial wash?
Ok here is the next line-up of what I am loving lately.
Favorite Things #2

1/2/3/4/5

1. Ok I broke down and bought my first solid-colored maxi recently. It was a great Memorial Day price over at Macy's and I love it. Like really love it, the fabric is soft, I am not pulling up on the tube part all day long and it fits like a glove. You can also purchase the dress in red. 2. Aveeno moisturizing bar has changed my face forever. I was using Pro-activ and then it stopped working and additionally Pro-activ was drying my face out like the Sahara desert. Dried out skin is stressed out skin and more prone to break-outs. Once I changed to this moisturizing bar soap, I have never used any other product. My skin is not red anymore because it isn't dried out. Try it! 3. Hot Tools Curling Iron, best curling iron I have ever used. The curl keeps during the day and the iron heats up really quickly and the barrel doesn't snag my hair. 4. Organix Moroccan argan oil is helping to bring life back to my fried out ends, not cute. The ends of my hair look and feel full. 5. Fresh Sugar lip treatment SPF 15. I received this little puppy from Sephora back in January when it was my birthday, it was their birthday giveaway. My lips are smooth, there is no icky after taste, and SPF helps keep my lips from burning during the summer months.

Alright ladies those are my picks for you of what I am loving recently. If you have tried any of these products or own that dress, share your experience with them. If you haven't, maybe I have enticed you enough to try them yourself.

Next week, Sean will be off visiting relatives in the East Coast starting out in Charlotte, NC. Do I wonder if I might run into Emily, the bachelorette? You betcha! Plus we are heading to Washington, DC so I can see my Boss's DC office before we officially close at the end of the year :-(
I have an awesome group of guest bloggers lined up for you. These are some of my personal favorite bloggers, please be kind and give them lots of comment love and follow their awesome blogs if you aren't already.

Fashion Star Addict

Have any of you been watching the TV show Fashion Star on NBC at 10pm on Tuesday nights?
I have been religiously, seriously it is such a cool concept of a show. Up and coming designers who are given a task each week and three potential buyers from Macys, Saks Fifth Avenue and H&M. After the show, any of the pieces that were bought from any of the buyers, (only one store can buy from any of the designs) the pieces are available online that night and in stores the next day.
I thought for my Fashion Fridays, I would display some of the pieces available in stores right now, that I would absolutely love to have in my closet.
I will list the piece, the price and the store where it can be bought.
My first must-have in my closet is this gorgeous sherbert color dress at Saks Fifth Avenue by designer Orly for the price of $295. So not happening with my bank account.
When I saw Saks Fifth Avenue buying the dress, I knew immediately would be out of my price range. Bummer but still a lovely dress.

Mini zip skirt by Orly at Saks Fifth Avenue, price $350

There is this maxi dress by designer Nikki Poulos found at H&M, price $19.95
Another maxi dress designed by Nikki bought by H&M, price $34.95
I love this reversible blazer design by Sarah found at H&M for $29.95
I like these cuffed shorts design by Ross at Macys selling for $59.00
Lastly, this vest designed by Ross at Macys for $59.00 should be in my closet especially the pink one
There you have it, my picks of what I should own from the Fashion Star collection at any of the three major retailers.
Has anyone else been watching the show? Have you bought any of the items seen on the show?
Share your thoughts with me on this Fashion Friday.

$50 Make-up Giveaway

What a better way to end this week with a little beauty and glamour and the best way I can show my appreciation for all the support you give my little blog is with a $50 make-up giveaway. I won this giveaway myself recently and it is definitely worth it to end this giveaway! The company is Soap Hope is this is their mission:
Helping Women Everywhere. We believe that every woman in the world who wants an opportunity to support herself and her family should have that opportunity. That's why we created the GOOD RETURNS business model on which Soap Hope was founded. It's simple: every dollar of profit earned by a Good Returns company goes first to an institution that uses it to solve world problems. After those profits have spent a year in service, the money is returned to Soap Hope. It's like the Peace Corps for money: we volunteer every dollar for a year of service.

You can feel good about wearing their products because you know each dollar is spent to help women around the world and it doesn't hurt either that you look pretty darn beautiful yourself, although I believe in beauty with or without make-up.
When I won the giveaway, I used the opportunity to select colors I normally wouldn't purchase or think would look good on me, I didn't go super crazy, don't worry. I bought a blue shade, I heard opposite colors are good for eyeshadows so with my brown eyes I went blue. I also bought a lovely shade of pink called Love Potion as demonstrated for you here. These eyeshadows along with their make-up line is natural minerals based.
These are the four colors I picked from the giveaway I won:

This is also my normal make-up routine, starting with Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer. Seriously without this, my eyeshadow is all up in my creases by 10am, not a pretty picture. I have tried drug store brands, especially L'Oreal and nothing can compare to Urban Decay. Plus they changed up their packaging lately so when you get down to the last little bit of primer, it is a lot easier to retrieve. Then I put my eyeliner on before my shadow. I like to put the liner on first because the shadow helps cut down on the exact line look. Then my shadow and finally after curling my lashes my mascara.
Here is my eye make-up routine.

I put on the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer

Then I put on my eyeliner in a dark brown shade.

Then I put on the Soap Hope Love Potion eyeshadow, curled my eyelashes and then put on my brownish-black mascara.

The finished look!

Glamour at the End of the Week

One thing that blogging has given me is the courage to find new hair curling techniques, hair products, nail polish and make-up. I will alternate on Fridays between fashion and glamour and for this first Glamour at the End of the Week is a hair straightener review.

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Misikko to see if I would be interested in doing a flat iron review. Of course I couldn't say no! I pretty much always curl my hair but I couldn't turn down the opportunity to do a review. I received the HANA Titanium Flat Iron 1.5" and a whole bunch of other goodies.
I couldn't believe the size of the box when I received it and saw that the extras the people at Misikko stuffed into the box.

This is the box I got!

The beautiful straightener with its case

And everything else that came with the flat iron.

 A towel

This is a heat shield solution I put on my hair prior to straightening

I can now try elf makeup

A plastic mat to lay the straightener on so protect your counter from the heat

I asked my friend, Laura to be my test subject on the straightener. In roommates, when we were roommates I would straighten her hair usually while watching Sex in the City or Friends. Plus Laura would be perfect because she has naturally curly hair and I think you would be able to tell the difference of the before and after photos.

Here is Laura before with wet hair.

Then she blow-dried her hair. Craziness!

Now we were ready to straighten! I divided her hair into sections and was amazed how smooth the hair glides through the titanium plates.

You can tell the difference, the left side is has straightened and the right hasn't.
I finished all the underneath hair.
 Her hair is really shiny
I finished the top layer of her and asked for a full rotation of her straightened hair!

Here is the after photo with straightened hair using the HANA Titanium 1.5" straightener.

Laura commented that her hair felt really soft, softener than any other straighteners she has used before. The hair glides very smoothly between the two plates and I didn't have a snag once with her hair.
Misikko has sells the HANA hair dryer which I have noticed a lot of other bloggers got to review as well.
If you are in the market for a new hair dryer or straightener, I would definitely recommend the HANA titanium 1.5" straightener!
Thank you Laura for being my hair model and thank you Misikko for giving me the opportunity to review one of your products.

*I was not paid for this review, other than the box of goodies I received, that was my compensation for writing this review. These reviews are entirely my own.
