blow out let down

Ok I think I may have given up on ever getting a blow out ever again. I have tried twice now and twice it has failed. Let me explain. I am one of those girls who love getting her hair done, it is an event to me, it is a morning out. I plan my appointments early in the morning so that I have all day to look and feel beautiful with my freshly trimmed, dried and curled hair, curly or rather wavy, always wavy. Last week I went to Ulta for a blow out, the go out blow out specifically. I had a dinner to go to on Saturday evening and I saw a 30% off coupon for first time customers. Sean allowed me to go so I went, all excited and jazzed to look pretty with a fresh blow out. Sadly, I left Ulta feeling like my hair was a birds nest, my hair was one hair sprayed mess and I couldn't wait to take a shower as soon as I got home to wash that mess out. Seriously I have given up on blow outs. The only person who is ever allowed to touch my hair is my stylist, Cheree, who I have been going to for 8 years now.
Maybe you have had better experiences at Ulta's salon than I have. I just was so excited for the experience, having to sit and wait for my appointment when I was on time crunch already was a disappointment, then my stylist kept leaving to talk to someone or do something and come back to do my hair. It was such a disappointing experience I came home and cried on feeling like I completely wasted our money. Anyways I am giving up on every getting a nice blow out. It is over for me I am breaking up with you blow outs!
So if you really really want me to get over my failure of blow outs and possibly, maybe, we shall see reconsider ever getting another blow out, tell me your success stories and where.
Or maybe I should just try this tutorial.

*I was not compensated for going to Ulta to get a blow out, this opinion is all my own and any money spent was completely mine.

I've been wanting to try a blow out because we just got a place here in Knoxville, but it's expensive! I'm not sure it'd be worth it for me.

I'm not sure of your location but is there a blowout bar near you? Like a Drybar that specializes in the blowout? I would give them a shot.

I haven't had my hair done in so long and have been wanting to try a blow out, hmmm maybe at some point in the future it will happen.

Agree, try Dry Bar. Not cheap but have a good following. I personally am not a fan of Ulta. I do. It feel those there are very professional. Does your own stylist not offer that service?

I hate my hair every time I get a blow-out. I'm just so particular about how its styled and nobody can seem to get it quite right. So I've just learned to perfect my own blow-out...saves money and I'm always satisfied now!

Boo I'm sorry you left so disappointed. There's nothing worse than having a ton of products in your hair and not being able to stand it till it's clean! I've never gotten a blowout since my hair is so short, but there has got to be somewhere that knows what they're doing (too bad first time isn't free!).

One of the most common complaints new clients bring to me is that other stylists use too much product! I can understand too, no one likes greasy, crispy hair! I have pretty fine, limp hair myself, so I understand how yucky it can feel to have too much, and how little is really necessary. To be honest, I even think that infographic you posted above would be too much product for ladies like you and I. I use a root lifter mist on my fine haired ladies, a smoother/detangler on my thicker, wavy haired ladies, and a really light hairspray to finish it off if the client wishes. My personal opinion is that serums, creams, and all that other stuff is only appropriate on short hair. Anyway, I'm sorry you had a bad experience. :-(

Ugh, what a bummer! I've never had a blow out but every time I get my hair done by my stylist she makes it look amazing...blow dry + curl and I feel amazing all day!!
