Time Flies

On Saturday, we celebrated Caleb's birthday with a party, yes a few weeks later but it was the only available weekend. The theme was planes based on his favorite toy from Christmas, a sit on and push yourself toy plane with a spinning propeller, lights and music, the works! That evolved into the plane theme and time flies idea. When planning a baby's 1st birthday party, Pinterest can or cant not be your best friend. You can take the party over the top or you can keep it simple with a few decorations that let them speak plainly, you know the speak softly, carry a big stick idea. Let the theme be known without overdoing it and beating it to a pulp!

So when creating the mood element of the party, you need an inviting, you are here, welcome to the party entrance like this!

Having balloons requires a trip to the party supply store the night before and then figuring out how to fit 20 balloons in the back of your car.

To make sure the plane theme goes off without a hitch, you of course need a pilot, regardless of his age and make sure he is super cute, even if he is distracted from piloting the party because he wants to smash his cake.

Make sure the passengers at the party get to partake in some sugary sweets.
You also want to have signs out that say Inflight Snacks and for drinks Jet Fuel and make sure you take photos of those elements.

Lastly, you want to have your party all set up before guests arrive and give yourself plenty of take to take photos to properly document your son's 1st birthday and also make sure you get a family photo, don't be like me and completely forget.

One final tip, borrow items from friends like an extra crock pot, and drink dispensers, no reason to buy them for yourself unless you entertain a lot and plan on celebrating more 1st birthdays but after this weekend I will need a looong break from planning another 1st birthday.
Happy Monday!
