Let me tell you a story...

Let me tell you a story today about a boy and a girl who have been patiently waiting and continually praying for God's will to be done since the beginning of the year. See the girl had lost her job in January and to go from working full-time to suddenly being at home full-time was a major adjustment. Interview after interview, rejection after rejection, the boy and girl determined each job the girl applied and interviewed for wasn't God's will. As difficult as it was to accept and as perfect as the job might have been for the girl, the boy and girl still had to accept that God's will was better over their own personal plans. The talk of family came up, and again the boy and girl asked God for his timing in creating the son He wanted this boy and girl to have. God's will for a child happened pretty quickly and in May, a baby was determined to be on the way! This news prompted talk of we need to move, the boy wanted to have the closer girl to his work before and after the baby is born this January. The search for a new home started, not buying a home but renting. Craigslist, Zillow, Trulia, the search was constant but nothing was working out. Red flags about a potential rental situation kept popping up. Again, the boy and girl didn't want their God, they asked God to show them His will. Finally, after setting aside the rental search, a property became available. The place had everything was that on the couple's basic list, 3 bedroom, central A/C and heating, two car covered garage, large backyard for their dog children. The girl saw the house and immediately had God's peace that this is the place He wanted them to move into. Oh and being closer to the boy's work, it was a 2 minute walk to his office. So eight days after viewing the house, the boy and girl packed up and moved all their belongings. Meanwhile, the girl was still searching for a job. After moving into the house and going through three rounds of interviews, the girl got a job offer! It was close to their new home and it wasn't a coincidence, it was God's timing. After months of waiting, months of praying, months of asking for God's will, He provided so much in such a short amount of time. Everything the couple had been praying for God provided in His timing.
If you haven't figured out by now, the boy and girl are Sean and I. After months of asking for a job, God provided one for me. I start work on October 21 and will be working for a city doing contract management and public relations for capital projects.
It was back in April that I was just asking God why haven't you provided anything yet for me? Immediately He told me, didn't I take care of you when you went to Azusa Pacific University? Didn't I take care of you when you got your first job? Why do you doubt me now?
By the way, me going to APU is another story of God clearly showing me He wanted me to attend this college but I'll save that for another time.
And with that it was reassurance that God will provide and provide He did.
Some times God takes a while to answer prayers and other times He will answer them quickly, the point that I want to stress here not to give up on God when He doesn't answer right away. Continue to trust Him, continue to do what He asks while you are waiting for Him to answer prayers, continue to be a faithful Christian because it isn't about us, it is ALL about Him!

I love this story! And it's so true! I've been doing a devotional lately about the Women of the Bible and how often we feel the need to take control of God's plan and lack patience, but really HE is in control and he will always provide!

Beautiful story -- I felt much the same way when I was in my final year of law school searching for a job. With each rejection letter (and trust me, there were MANY) I merely tried to believe and have faith that something better was in His plan. It was! I'm happily employed and doing much better than I would have at any of those jobs that I was so upset over not getting!

Trusting in His timing is where happiness is found.

You are so right! In January I suffered a miscarriage am then a short month later we were placed with Ellie's birth parents. I am in between health insurance right now and God wants us to be provided for and so another miscarriage is happening so we don't have to go through a pregnancy with out health coverage. While it might not be ideal or what I have planned it is Gods plan and timing. I am so thankful that I have Ellie during this 4th miscarriage. God sure does know what he is doing!!

Congrats on the new job, Meg! I've been looking for something closer to Chino since the beginning of the year and have not had much luck-- it's frustrating and so stressful-- your story reminds me to keep my head up and stay motivated in my search. Also-- very awesome you went to APU! I grew up just down the street :)
