Happy Friday everyone! Today I have the beautiful Ruthy of Discovery Street guest posting for me. She has wonderful insight into life and of course her just too darn cute for words daughter too! Thanks for guest posting for me Ruthy!
Hi there! I'm Ruthy from Discovery Street; a lifestyle blog that mostly revolves my family, our never ending house remodeling, other random day to day shenanigans. I'm so thrilled to be posting for Meg while she's in Seattle (which is close to my neck of the woods).
I've been blogging for over 3 years; there are seasons of life where there are never ending topics to blog about. Weddings, travels, pregnancy, parenthood...but when those seasons pass do you ever wonder what in the heck you're going to blog about?
How many times have you stared blankly at your computer screen and thought 'My life just isn't that interesting right now?' Have you ever felt like you were in a blogging rut? I'm not a blogging expert by any means, but I've managed to blog consistently for the past 3 years and wanted to share how I stay inspired to keep my content fresh and interesting.
I'm guessing most of you are like me and blogging isn't a career; you fit blogging in between work, kids, spouses and crazy schedules. I don't have time to plan out blog posts weeks in advance. I do usually have one or two posts pretty well thought up in my head each week, but other than that I'm constantly seeking out inspiration for things to blog about.
I probably snap between 20-40 pictures a day on my iphone. Most of those pics are of my daughter, but I also snap pictures of things that inspire me. So if I see a pretty sunset, flowers, the ocean--anything that triggers something in my brain I snap a pic of it.
I'm incredibly inspired by photos...so when I look through my camera roll, a photo will typically trigger a memory or thought and words start to flow.
I also find inspiration in other blog posts I read. Do you ever read a post you just love and connect with and feel you have something worthwhile to say too about that topic? Bloglovin' helps me organize those posts by simply hitting the 'like' button. So I'll often go through 'liked' posts to remind myself of great topics I want to write about.
So those are two simple things that keep me bloggin. How do you stay inspired to write fresh content?

This is exactly my technique too! It's so much easier to see the beautiful things going on in the mundane parts of your life when you have photos of everything!

I tend to see life completely different through the lens of my camera, so looking back over the pictures I've snapped that day or week, gives me great inspiration to blog about. Most of the time Im just in awe of Gods creation around me - sunsets, landscapes, animals, etc - they're all so wonderful!
Hope you're having a great time in Seattle, Meg! Can't wait to hear about your trip!! :)
Great idea to like the posts you want to write about later!
I agree, other peoples posts do inspire me! I found your blog through the Treasure Tromp Blogervesary giveaway and I am so glad I did, I love it and I am now following you!
