truths about me...

I tagged by Stesha yesterday in her truths about me post and I have never done one of these posts, so thanks Stesha for the tag! Love ya girl!
I liked to share on my blog a lot of my favorites things but to share personal things about me is a bit harder, maybe some of you understand and share my sentiments.

1. A lot of my friends call me, Meg, but in my work life it is always Megan, yup that is what Meg is short for, no surprises there. When my parents were deciding what to name me, my grandma suggested Mickey. My maiden name is Mouch pronounced like ouch just add an M in the front, Mouch. My grandma thought it would be cute to name me Mickey Mouch, thank goodness my parents didn't take go that route.

2. I have noticed that I like something, I really like something whether it be a song, a food or an article of clothing. I like it listen to it a lot, eat it frequently and wore it a lot (don't worry I wash it a lot too) but then I get bored and tired of that one thing and I dump it for the next newest thing in my life. Anyone else do that??

3. I have never had an innate desire to be a mother. Do I want to be yes? But I have always been an in order in life type of person. First I go to school then at some point I get married and then after that kids. So I did the school thing, said those vows almost 3 years ago and so I guess the next thing on the list is kids but when? You got me but I have never felt that "all I want to do is be a mom" or "I can't wait to be a mom" type of feeling. Blame it on my genes, none of the women in my family ever expressed that.

4. I am not a 5 or 10 year type of plan kind of gal, in fact that question in interviews scares me because how the heck do I know what I want to be doing in 10 years let alone 5 years? There are two types of answers I would give, the unrealistic type of 5 year plan answer like living in Bora Bora, relaxing on the beach every day or the realistic type of answer, which would be I don't know. Literally, I don't know what my 5 year plan is. Sometimes I feel like a bit of a failure being 29, not really sure what my dream job or occupation is. When you are looking for a job and you aren't sure what you want to do or what your dream job is how do you type that in the search box on Monster.com or Careerbuilder?

5. Until recently, I have never been a hang out in groups type of gal until I met these three beautiful and godly ladies - Kasey, Katie and Jamie. They have changed my opinion about hanging out in groups, like a regular group, the type of group that will plan to hang out together on purpose and not necessarily have a specific agenda in mind but just to enjoy each other's company. I have never felt so loved by these girls and I don't feel like I have to win them over to like me, they just do.  They have been wonderful, uplifting and encouraging ladies and I am so blessed that God has brought them into my life through blogging. Without blogging, we probably would have never met.

Lastly, I love Easter time and not just for the reason for the celebration but for these beauties that I always buy as least 30 stems at a time.
These are the beauties that open from this...

to this...

I'd love to pass these truths about me post to Kasey, Callie, Nikki, Melissa and Whit.

I totally get obsessed with things too such as a song, Green Monster Smoothies, or a certain piece of clothing. haha. But then a few weeks later I also get bored and move on hahaa.

I'm that way with songs! I get a song I like and it's on repeat until I'm sick of it. Haha.

I'm so with you on the mom thing. I'm not even really sure I ever want to have kids, but I just don't know. I'm afriad by the time I figure out that I really want them...it'll be too late.

#2 and #3...totally with you. Totally. #4? Eric and I both could probably give you a 15 to 20 year plan, or in any increment below if you asked, haha! I mean, not that life goes as planned. It doesn't. But we are both SUCH detailed planners...God help our kids.

I love this post dear! I think it'd be funny if your grandma still used that as nickname for you. It be awesome! and I don't think I'll ever find my dream job (because honestly I'm never satisfied with something). But I'd be sitting there next to you in a chair on the beach, drinking a cold drink, in a heartbeat! :) See you in about a couple hours.

Glenn's sister married a man with the last name of Catton. So of course everyone said "name your daughter Kitty & your son Tommy". She didn't.

Great to get to know you better.

I'm the same way you used to be with groups. I'm always looking to make new friends, but none of them would really hang out with one another. I'm much more of a home-body, but having a group of girls that can hang out so effortlessly would be something very nice to have too. And I do not like the 5 or 10 year plans either. They give me anxiety!

Thanks for tagging me! I'm looking forward to writing my truths! :o)

I am #2 all the way, I have that song on repeat all day long, eat whatever I"m obsessed with until my husband tells me, I can't look at it again, or he tells me, i'm going to burn out on it if we don't stop soon, haha. And that 5-10 year plan, yikes! I hate that question too. Don't worry, you'll figure out your passion soon. My current job, I just happened to be good at math, so I became an engineer, definitely not my dream job.

I do #2 also especially when it comes to clothes/accessories!

Love this post! I read Stesha's too ;) I hate the 5-year plan thing too. Don't worry, I'm 35 and still don't know what I want to do with my life. Well that's not exactly true, I want to be in business for myself but can't right now so therefore have no idea what ELSE I want to do!

So fun learning a bit more about you! I adore Spring flowers too. My last batch of ranunculus are fading so I'm off to buy more today. I'm hoping for pretty tulips or daffodils :-)

i've never had a desire to be a mother either, and i probably never will be. that's okay with me - it's always other people who judge. and i also don't have a 5 or 10 year plan...i just strive to be happy every day and proud of myself and my life!

Ha Mickey Mouch that is too funny! My last name is Case and I always thought that my brother would have been better suited to be a Justin... just sayin.

love this! you have #2 in common with my husband.lol.!

kids: I was the same way until i had my own, trust me it is so different when they are yours :)

I love this- so glad you shared it. I am in need of a local group of girls (my friends are so scattered), so I am definitely envious of you! I am the same when I like something- I always try to pace myself when I *love* a song or something, but I inevitably end up listening to it way too much then letting it go!

I don't really like any interview questions! I always thought that the what will you be doing in 5-10 years question would be easy, but it is not. No matter how much you plan, things change! My least favorite interview question I get is: What inspired you to be a nurse. I always say my sister--and she did to some extent, but not totally. Loved this post!

Elle Sees said...

I hate that question too!

Hi Meg! This is so fun! I don't have a 5 year plan either. Or a year plan. Haha. Trying to more lately, but darn it, it's hard to be an adult! ;)

Unknown said...

I am the same way with your #4! I hated that question in interviews, because the honest answer is I have no idea! And well you really can't realistically plan your life that far in advance, it's too unpredictable!

Sarah Alway said...

OMG... Mickey Mouch?! Thank goodness you dodged that bullet! And regarding becoming a parent, I feel the exact same way... sometimes it scares me but I think once the time comes, I'll be a good one, no matter how "ready" I feel. You will, too!

Seriously, who can answer the 5 to 10 year question?!?! Our desires change as we go through life changes. I had zero desire to be a mom and one day it just hit me. We started trying a year later and then had Carter. I always saw myself advancing in my career and knew I would NEVER be a stay at home mom. But now, I'm counting down the time until I can finally stay at home and focus on raising Carter myself instead of my mother-in-law doing it. Never say never, that's for sure!

I love the honesty. These posts are my favorite. And...again, I love your new blog design.

i have never "wanted kids" either. I thought if it happens, it happens. I did hope I would be a somewhat young mom, but had a feeling I wouldn't be married til I was 30+...if that makes sense. My mom drilled me with school first then marriage then kids...in fact she still advocates for having kids in 5 yeras when I'm 35 haha. Lately I have caught the baby fever...just slightly thou...i think it's time and i don't want to be 60 when my kid is graduating high school or soemthing hahaha

So much fun learning more about you! And yes, thank goodness your parents to give in to grandma!!

I don't like people asking me where I'll be in 5 years because I feel like I'm lying. At my interview for the job I have now, I almost couldn't answer because I'll probably not be in this job five years from now and I didn't want them to not hire me because of that. :-)

Thanks for sharing. I think we're sort of alike.

I definitely love something with all my heart, wear it out and then I'm on to my next new love. Whether that be food, or a song or something silly like a tv show :)

Also I was never a ''all i want to do is be a mom'' girl either. but now somehow I've had 3 kids in 2.5 years :)

Also - I've never been one to crave to hang out with a group. So I can totally relate. I've always been a one on one friend kind of gal!

i love posts like this because you get to learn more about bloggers. im the same way as well--i don't really like hanging out with groups

I just had to comment on the part where you said you feel like a bit of a failure for not knowing what you dream job is, or that you're working it right this moment. To me, a job is a job! I really enjoy my work, even as mundane as it is or the fact that it's absolutely not what I went to school for. I like it because it's a job! And even though I work at my particular job, it doesn't define who I am. I like living my life outside of my work. I never really love the question of "what do you do?" because people automatically define you as that job, when in reality, it's just a job, not a definition of you! Don't feel bad about not having your "dream job," you're doing exactly what you should be doing right now!

Right there with you on #3 and #4!! I don't know about you but I get both of those questions a LOT. I know people are curious but man it drives me insane.

#1 is so cute and I can so so so relate to #2!! :)

I love daffodils too! We had a great sale at a local store, 30 stems for $6! Too good to pass up! And #3 - I am 100% the same. People ask me ALL the time when we are going to have kids, and I just say later down the road, we are just enjoying each other for now! I wonder if maybe in a few more years the "motherly gene" will kick in for me.

Kasey Lynne said...

Your grandma wanted to name you Mickey?!?!?! THANK YOU Meg's parents for NOT going with that one!

I'm with ya on #2...especially clothing and music.

#3 is why we're soul sisters. I feel the exact same way. Sam and I were actually talking about this subject on our walk last night.

Love you girl. So glad to call you a close IN REAL LIFE friend!

doing this post asap!
