Feeling Presidential...

Happy Monday all and week of Thanksgiving, anyone getting their Thanksgiving pants out? (Please tell me some of you know the Friends reference that I am talking about). So on Saturday after getting some fresh hair, Sean and I intentional had a presidential Saturday. For years, when I would drive on the freeway known as the 57, there was a sign for Richard M. Nixon Birthplace Museum and Library but I never had the desire to visit the until last week. Then after the museum, Sean and I saw the movie, Lincoln, and yes that made up our presidential Saturday. We went from the President that resigned rather that be impeached to the President that fought very hard to get the 13th amendment passed, formally abolishing slavery in the United States. If you want to call me out on it, yes, I am a bit of political nerd, always have been, always will be. So nerdy in fact that in the first few moments of the movie, Lincoln, an American flag was being raised up on a flagpole and I noticed the flag had the 50 stars on it and was a historically inaccurate flag. YES, bit time nerd!
Both the museum and movie were very interesting and I would highly recommend both to anyone. Yesterday, while at the museum, we got to see a couple who had just gotten married at the library strolling the grounds taking their photos. And there might have been two huge blow-up swans, one swan with a top hat, the other swan with a veil.

Some scenes from our presidential Saturday.

The museum and library grounds included the home that Nixon was born in

And the very helicopter that flew Nixon from Washington DC to California following his resignation from the Office of the President. The helicopter continued to be used by a few presidents following Nixon's resignation and when the helicopter was officially retired, it has been on loan to the Museum by the Marine Corps, which still owns it today.

I'm taking the rest of the week off from blogging, so have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone! Good thing I just finalized the Thanksgiving menu. Catch you next week!!
Also don't forget the ornament swap I am hosting with Alisha and Ashley!
Sign-ups begin next Monday, November 26 through December 3.

Wait 50 stars would be inaccurate though. Is that what you meant? :)

My senior prom was at Nixon Library. It was really pretty with the gardens. I've never seen the museum though. I need to! And I want to see Lincoln!

I will come to you for questions about past presidents, because I'm absolutely terrible with history... especially presidential history. Your Presidential Weekend looked like a lot of fun though.
