This weekend was relaxing, had a fun time making dinner together with Sean on Friday, then Saturday was a little beauty day, getting my roots touched up. Yesterday was church and substituting for a 6th grad Sunday school class. I have to say those 6th graders are a tough crowd and any of you bloggers who are 6th grade teachers, well teachers in general, I give you props for what you do!
I have been loving our pastor's sermon series lately, which is Salt and Light. As Christians, the Bible calls us to be salt and light to this world, to let the light of God shine through us and to be the salt of the earth. Or as my husband says he wants to be the pepper of the earth ;-) yes that is my husband for you, the jokester.
God called me to be according to the Bible in Matthew 5:13-16 NIV
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
To remind me to be the salt and light, I created a board on Pinterest and will work on daily learning more about God by reading His word and diving deeper into how He wants me to be the salt and light.
Just a few images for you as a gentle reminder.

one of my FAVORITE verses :)
I love this, and it's a great reminder Meg :-)
Thanks for that reminder! I love when messages truly hit home. I'd never thought to find photos to go along with them, but I think that would be such a great way to truly remember what I've learned in a lesson, reading or church. Thank you!
Great reminder! Your pastor sounds like a smart guy! I love when pastors/bishops/church teachers teach the "basics" like this so we can remember to do the little things!
"You are the light of the world" strong words! God really has major faith in us, doesn't he?
Love this post and I can certainly use a reminder now and then. Good for you for pinch hitting with the 6th graders!...... I'm a mom to one so I applaud your efforts! :)
what an awesome idea to make a board to continue to be inspired by the Lord.
Love how you put this together Meg!! Great verse!!!
What a lovely thought followed with equally lovely images.

What a sweet post, Meg!
I heart this post....I'm a salt addict!!! When people come over my house and they ask why my food tastes good. I usually say SALT. People, just don't use this goodness enough.
Love this! I'm off to follow you on Pinterest! :)
What a good idea for a pinterest board. It is funny how you can look at boards for fitness, craft or cooking motivation, but not many for "salt and light" inspiration! Beautiful!
I love this! What a great reminder!
Happy Monday :)

Such a great verse! I love the sweatshirt with the Morton's salt girl on it! So cute!
I love your idea to create a board on pinterest to help you remember these verses! That is such a good idea! I might have to steal it and do the same thing with some of the passages/verses I'm working on learning/living out! Hope your week is off to a great start! :)
What an uplifting post! Love this :)
Oh - Fancy That.
What a great idea to make a pinterest board on this! Love it!
What a sweet post! So inspirational :)
And I love these pins. I am a sucker for candles and mason jars. And that sweater is too cute!
I love these reminders! I love that idea for a sermon series, it's fantastic. I'd love to hear more about it. Those are two things I think all Christians should strive to be. If there was more focus on that, I believe a lot of the negative connotations that go along with being Christian could be wiped out of mainstream media. :) Happy Tuesday!
This is one of my favourite quotes. It is hard to live your life surrounded by non-believers (most of my family this side of the world don't believe) and it can really get me down, because I don't feel it is my place to be telling them about God and faith. But, I do feel that by following this passage, being the light and letting it shine, that the light will eventually fall on them ... thanks for sharing!

Hey There,
I was looking at your site (love it by the way), and I was wondering you got one of the picture/sweatshirt of the Morton Salt Girl holding a snail. My girlfriend LOVES the Morton Sale girl and I was hoping to find out where I could buy it. Any chance you know?
Thanks so much!
