Did you know there are actual physical effects your boy gets from a hug? Whether it is your mom who gives you a hug, your dad or your spouse, there is no doubt that a hug does improve your mood overall. God designed us to be social creatures to have relationships with others and hugging is part of those social relationships, when it is acceptable of course.

A few effects that hugging provides I found are:

Boosts your immune system
Builds self-esteem

Fosters self-acceptance
Alleviates tension

I remember when I was single, had a long hard day at work and I would just go to my empty apartment. I remember longing for that hug, for that embrace that would just seem to melt all my frustrations of the day away, and because I didn't, I would carry it around on my shoulders and that was a heavy weight to carry. Even being married, however, I sometimes find it hard to ask for a hug sometimes, for an embrace from my husband. I will be working on that to be more open with embraces, to accept physical touch more easy.
For today, I found some beautiful images that hope to remind you to go hug your loved ones, hug your friends and let them know how much you appreciate them and I am also posting this because Valentine's Day is on the brain!

You know the saying, an apple a day keeps the doctor away,
I think the same true can be true for a hug.
With Valentine's Day next week, make sure you stay in a hug just a little bit longer, find an extra reason to give someone a hug, or just give a hug for no other reason than to express I love you. Your happiness and health will thank you!

We are a big hugging family and it's true.... it can turn a bad day around or make a good day great for your husband, kids or even a neighbor or that random person in the grocery store.... (just kidding on the last one) :)

Serously a hug changes everything. I think that's the only way my husband and I officially make up when were arguing lol.
And I believe in the apple a day too :)

Super cute pictures. My husband is soooo the hugger in our relationship...I must get better at this! I hug our dog all the time though. I tell him is has to be a circle of affection, bc the dog gives him more kisses. :)

I love hugs from my hubs and family! For some reason though, I am not a fan of hugs from strangers (you know how some people are super huggy, I am not).

Perfect read!

I'm a big hugger, that's for sure!
And I live on my own so I know the feeling of wanting a hug when I come home from a long day.
Good thing I have my kitty since bf lives 40 minutes away ;)

Yes! I seldom hugged before going to college, because Asian families generally aren't very touchy. But then my white friends in college broke me in and I'm all about hugs now! haha

Aww, love this! And totally agree! My fiance just got home after being away for a week and a half for work and I always anticipate his hugs when he gets home :)

It always makes me so happy to see photos of people in love. And studies have shown that hugs make you feel better when you hold them for 6 seconds or longer :) {virtual 6 second hug}

This is so true, when my husband gives me a big hug it just seems to make all of the worries of the world go away. Even with friends, too! I feel all mushy inside now from your lovely post!

I'm such a hugger... only with people I know really well though. My sister and I were just talking about what "love languages" we need the most, and I always come up with physical touch and quality time. Great post girly!

What a sweet post. I totally love having my little girl around who I can hug whenever I want. She is too small to get away :)

I've heard that hugging - just another human's touch in general, is very important to a person's well being. When I was single I would try to get massages every couple months for this reason. Hugs are wayyyy better though!
