Inedible Birthday Cakes - Oh Pinteresting Wednesday

In honor of my husband's birthday on Friday, I am baking him a cake, and I hope he isn't reading this blog post until tomorrow or else the surprise will be spoiled ;-) Actually he hardly reads my blog so I'm sure I am pretty safe until the surprise is revealed tonight. I like cake, I like decorating cakes and customizing them to whoever I am baking it for. The first birthday of my husband's that we celebrated we were actually engaged by that time, we got engaged after 10 months of dating. For that birthday I did a Chargers-them cake.

This was his cake 2 years ago. I am doing another Chargers-theme cake as well for this year's birthday.

I made a chocolate cake with a peanut butter whipped cream filling.
Hope he enjoys the cake and all the hard work I put into it :-)
For my Oh Pinteresting Wednesday post, I decided to continue with the cake theme.

google

However, I found images of birthday cakes that are non-edible, however, made very creatively and can last many many birthdays and wont dry out or become spoiled unlike a real cake. Here, take a look!

Those pins are beautiful, but I'd pick a chocolate cake with peanut butter filling every time! Can you come visit for my birthday?

Dang girl! You're a pro at cake decorating! The best I usually do is making plain frosting look smooth. I bet that cake took a long time to get right! It looks great! :)

What a sweet wife you are to make a cake! Okay, now you've inspired me -- maybe I'll take a stab at making a cake for Ian's birthday next month.

And I am obsessed with that sweet cake slice hair clip in the little gal's hair .... too, too cute!
