First Day of School Outfit - Friday Fancies

Ah the first day of school it was always finished off by a celebratory first day of school cake that my mom would bake every year. Some years it was a cake, some years it was a pie but there was a sweet treat at the end of the day! Also there was the obligatory first day of school photos too before we had to rush off before the first bell. I always had to pick out the perfect first day of school outfit too.
When I entered 6th grade, which was middle school where I went, my best friend, Laura, and I were super excited. I saved up my money, got the perfect dress and perfect pair of earrings to match, purchased that lovely outfit at Walmart, yes Walmart. When I entered high school picking an outfit was easy, I had to wear a uniform, solved all the problems of the world, not really but you get the idea :-)
Then I went to college and the first day of school seemed like a waste because you go to your classes, get your syllabus and then the professor would dismiss you. Outfits weren't that deal of a big because people wore whatever they wanted, some in their pjs, you could tell the girls that for a 7am class got up at 4am to do their make-up and hair just right and others decided the going barefoot was the best way to come to class.
When I started my Masters program, the first day of school I came in whatever I wore for work that day. If I could do the first day of class all over again, I would wear the following outfit. I love the look of boots, and I am totally crushing on those Tori Burch boots except for the price tag. I have been seeing these boots pop up a lot lately on blogs and they are gorgeous!
I want to own a Foley and Corinna bag one day and I am loving the rose gold accessories recently.

Of course I am linking this outfit over at Long Distance Loving and her Friday Fancies feature!

back to school

Be sure to come back on Monday when I am hosting another giveaway. Remember that twine wrapped wreath from Wednesday, yah I'll be giving one away to a lucky follower and add whatever color of flowers she desires.
Enjoy your weekend everyone, I certainly will, I am off to a Padres baseball game tomorrow with a free concert by Dierks Bentley afterwards my friend Michelle!!

Love the boots and that red bag! I think that is so cool that your mom made a first day of school cake for you growing up. I might do that one day with my own kids for them to have something to look forward to after the first day! Seriously I think that is a brilliant idea!

Lol Even when I was in college I could have a "first day of school outfit". Listen to me, I make it sound as if its been years since I've had a first day of school, when really this is the first year I WONT be having a first day of school. And I'm not as excited about it as I thought I would be. Go figure. Great outfit! Def first day of school appropriate! Have a great weekend Meg!

My mom always did the first day of school photo too. Every year there was a picture of us standing in the yard, holding our back packs.
