Tuesday Treats is Chocolate Silk Pie

Chocolate, oh the yummy things that can be made with chocolate! I love chocolate, that is no joke, seriously one birthday I received a t-shirt that said chocoholic on the front and it smelled like chocolate. I love chocolate chip cookies, I love brownies basically anything and everything that somehow involves chocolates. Then it should come as no surprise from my little intro here that this week's Tuesday Treats features chocolate in the form of chocolate silk pie. Have you ever eaten it? I can honestly say that I never had, actually despite my love for chocolate the fewest chocolate items I have eaten in the form of dessert is pies. Well I am ending that for good! Chocolate pies from here on out, that is the only thing I will eat. Ha, kidding!

Usually I make cookies or bars for my Tuesday Treats but this week calls for something extra special. For this recipe, you need a grand total of 6 ingredients (6?!). But if you wanted whipped cream and chocolate curls to decorate your pie than you need a few more, your choice.

First gather your ingredients, 1 baked pie shell, 4 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate, 1 cup (2 sticks) of salted butter, softened, 1 1/2 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 4 eggs.
Bake your pie crust at 400 degrees for about 11-14 minutes. When it is finished, take your crust out and set it aside to cool. Then you are ready to make the delicious chocolate filling! Here are the ingredients.

Melt your unsweetened chocolate completely either in the microwave or on the stove top.
When it is fully melted, set it aside to cool.

In your mixer, cream the butter and the sugar, beat it together for about 1 minute until fluffy and creamy.

All creamed and ready for chocolate!
Once the butter and sugar are all creamed, drizzle all the chocolate into your mixer then add your vanilla and mix all the ingredients together well.

Oops didn't quite make the bowl :-(

So much chocolatey goodness!

All mixed together!
Once the chocolate and vanilla are incorporated into the butter and sugar then it is time to add the egg one by one and mix one egg into the batter for 5 minutes before you add the next egg. See that nifty little timer on my mixer, yah that cool gadget! This is when the timer definitely goes in handy! Thank you Breville for adding this feature. So get your timer, and your 4 eggs. Add the first one then mix it for whip it for 5 minutes.

While you wait for the 5 minutes to pass, view my adorable dogs, (yes I said dogS, that is another post coming about our newest addition to our little family)
Kimbia, my Sean, Kip
Back to the recipe, after 5 minutes of beating the egg, go ahead and add another one then reset your time for 5 minutes. Trust me you will become an expert at this!

After the 5 minute timer go off, add another egg, whip it around for 5 minutes and then add the final egg and give it a good beating for 5 minutes. Once that is all done then you are ready to add the filling to your baked pie crust.

Then set your pie in the refrigerator to chill and set for about 2 hours.

If you don't want to add whipped cream and chocolate curls onto your pie, then stop here, eat and enjoy! Otherwise, make your whipped cream and top it onto your pie, then definitely go ahead, slice, eat and enjoy!

YUM!
