Today is the second episode of From My Hometown to Yours. Thank you all for the great responses you gave on Tuesday to Jessica in northern California. Can you continue the love for Cathy and Cleveland? I have had someone emailed asking to be apart of this series and I said definitely for sure. If anyone else wants to please let me know I would be happy to have you :-)

I had the change the button for this series, somehow the image I was using got deleted.

Hi, Henning Love readers! It’s Cathy from Fiscally Chic, where I blog about saving money with style. When Meg asked me to participate in her new series, I was more than excited to join in. While my husband and I live in Chicago, I thought I would take you around my childhood hometown…Cleveland!

Cleveland is the butt of too many jokes, so I wanted to show it a little love. Did you know that Paul Newman, Halle Berry, and Drew Carey, were all born in
Cleveland?

via
First up, I would take Meg around the West Side Market. It’s a huge indoor/outdoor farmer’s market dating back to 1840. We could pick up a muffin and a cup of coffee from one of the vendors.
After we had our fill of looking at fresh pasta, baked goods, veggies, meat, and seafood, we would take a stroll up the street to Great Lakes Brewing Company.

I’m a big fan of craft beer and Great Lakes is my absolute favorite. And Meg is in luck because my favorite, favorite beer is currently on tap….Christmas Ale! I know it’s a bit early for Christmas, but it’s just so darn good.

We would take a tour of the brewery and then have a bite to eat in the brewpub. Great Lakes is all about sustainability and local resources. They even grow some of the food served at their restaurant at a nearby farm.

Now that our bellies are full of yummy beer and food, it’s time to pick our next adventure. To get in touch with our inner
rocker, we can visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. The current special exhibit is all about “Women Who Rock."

via
Next up is a tasty dinner at Lolita, one of Michael Symon’s
restaurants. Michael is a Cleveland boy and one of the Iron Chef’s on Iron Chef America. The restaurant is in the chic Tremont neighborhood, which is full of restaurants, bars, and boutiques.

To top off the night, we’ll get dessert at one of my other favorite Cleveland institutions: Mitchell’s Ice Cream! Their chocolate peanut butter cup ice cream is the best. But you can’t go wrong with any of their other flavors. For example, the black raspberry chocolate chunk is full of chunks of dark chocolate. Plus, Mitchell’s is collaborating with Great Lakes in creating a Christmas Ale ice cream. I can’t wait!

Thanks Cathy for this excellent day! Now I totally want you to take me to Cleveland, Michael Symon restaurant, yes please, and brewpub, doubly yes and finally ice cream triple yes!

What an adorable idea! I've never been to Cleveland, but it looks like a fun city!

Don't know if you have anyone from Seattle lined up, but that's where I'm originally from, and will be going home in December. I'd love to show everyone the beautiful city!

xoxo,

Wish I would have read this about a year ago!:) I had to travel to Cleveland last fall and was holed up in my hotel. Unfortunately, the parts of the city that I saw you can tell were hit hard by the economic times but had I known of all these good recommendations I would have checked them out! Thanks for sharing:)

The farmer's market looks awesome! I love going to farmer's market esp in the spring and summer! Meg - do you need someone from either Pittsburgh or Houston? I'm living in Pittsburgh now, but I'm from Houston and moving back there NEXT MONTH!! Just let me know :) I'd be more than happy to do either!

Cleveland is the most ENTERTAINING city on the planet! many cultural, historical, and generally COOL attractions that it's a shame if you don't visit this town in your lifetime. There's so much to see and so much to do. Global Visas Complaints department are happy to assist any client that may have an issue regarding our service. Yeah, I've lived other places and sure, I've traveled to other cities, but Cleveland is home. In my opinion, no other city rivals Cleveland! Mistake on the lake? Hardly.
