decisions, decisions, decisions

Sometimes when big decisions have to be made, can it consume your thoughts? So much in fact that maybe it inhibits your ability to think about blog posts? I have been feeling that way for a bit now and coupled with the fact that I am tired too. That is something else that big decisions will rob you of, your sleep.
That is where the Henning family is at right now, some big decisions have to be made. Decisions we don't like making. Decisions that will hurt. We might have been putting this decision off and they probably should have been made sooner.

When you have some big decisions to be made, how do you make them? Do you write a list of pros and cons? Do you think about future scenarios of if we did this then this might happen but we can't have that happen? Flip a coin? Heads you go one way, and tail you go with the other decision? Pray?

tough decisions are always hard but i like to write up lists -- pros and cons, it usually helps me think things out. xo jillian - cornflake dreams

Good luck I know the best choice will come to you. I have soo much trouble with this kind of thing as I am extremely indecisive and tend to second guess things. I'm a little better if I have the time to weigh the pros and cons though.

Those are the toughest, to know what is right. But I always think that deep down you really know what to do, but just can't/won't admit it out loud because it might hurt people, but you know that it's the best for you right now in this situation. Good luck. But a pro/con list is always my way to start stuff out...getting my thoughts on paper.

I honestly hate making big life changing decisions because I don't really deal well with change. I'm a creature of habit! But when the situation arises where we do have to make a big decision... we sit down, talk it through.. weigh the pros and cons, and then make the decision together. It's never easy though because you start to doubt what you decide, but you just got to stick with it and know that you made the right choice. Good luck!

Pros and cons lists, even if in my head, definitely help to sort out some of the confusion that always comes along with big decisions. Prayer and faith go a long way too, though!

I do a pros and cons list and then I think about everything that could go wrong - over analyze basically!!! I'm sure you all will come out with the best decision for you!! :)

Good luck with your decision! I'm big on the pro and con list- that's what I usually do to help come to a conclusion easier.

Gosh, making tough decisions is really tough- I've found that the anticipation of sharing them though is worse than actually making them; doing what needs to be done. I always make a list of pros/cons and then usually talk to one other person who knows me really, really well to get their opinion. (It's usually my husband or best friend or a family member.) And of course I pray and pray and pray some more, and ask God to 1. give me a clear sign and 2. comfort and courage when the time comes to "rip the bandaid." Praying for you guys!

Man girl, I'm right there with you...we are in the midst of trying to make some decisions and the only thing that seems to be working for me right now is prayer. And lots of it. I've also done the pros and cons list, but that never seems to work quite as well as just bathing the situation in prayer. Too bad right now all I seem to be hearing is...WAIT. Good luck in your decisions, I'm right there with you!

We hate making big decisions. So much in fact, that we postpone making them as long as possible. You're right. That only makes the decision tougher. A pros and cons list coupled with lots of prayer is our go-to strategy. Thinking about y'all and praying for peace in the decisions your family is having to make!

Making life changing decisions is the hardest. I'm thinking of you and your family, Meg. It's never easy and this won't help much but know that you aren't alone. There's a way to figure things out. I usually make pro-con lists, whereas for others literally flipping a coin solves the issue.

Decisions are tough - usually because we already know the right one, and it's not necessarily one you want to make. When I am faced with a decision I pray like crazy, and listen to my gut. It is usually never wrong, and I do get an overwhelming sick feeling if I make the wrong decision. It's weird that way.

Another good way to decide on something, that I use a lot comes from Dr Phil (I know!) He said the hardest part about making a decision is thinking about it. So, his advice is to make a decision. Doesn't matter what it is. And live with it for 3 days. If after 3 days you feel good about the decision, it was probably the right one to make.

Best of luck!!!

We went through this a few months ago before we officially decided on moving... so I feel for you right now! We made pro/con lists, did a LOT of praying and discussed it into the ground (between the two of us) until we came to a decision that we both felt comfortable with. It wasn't easy but things always work out how they are supposed to! Thinking of you!

I am not very good at making big decisions. I tend to just try to avoid them. But I feel like the right choice is right there, but sometimes it isn't obvious. Once you make the decision, whatever you decide, you will feel better.

Tough decisions are just that... Tough. I don't know if I have a patented way of dealing with them- lots of mulling, and worrying, and gut-checking. Know that I'm thinking of the Henning fam! :)

Always pray for guidance! But we often make a list of pros and cons too but it seems like a lot of times that doesn't make one way the clear choice. Frustrating. Sometimes it's what "feels" right and sometimes it just comes down to making a decision, any decision, and then being confident that we can handle the consequences. Best of luck to you in the struggle you are facing. Trust in Him.

That's when I'm thankful for The Holy Spirit. I spend a lot of time in prayer when a big decision is coming up...and if it's something that impacts the family then my husband and I will pray together. The Lord will never mis-guide you!
