A Cookie Classic

When I was younger and baked, (yes I baked a lot in my life, I remember making chocolate chip cookies when I was in 6th grade) and one of my favorite cookies to bake was snickerdoodle. I think I baked it a lot because it was a fun name to say and cookies rolled in cinnamon and sugar made for a very delicious combination. Last week, I had a hankering for these cookies so after Caleb went to bed I baked.

Snickerdoodles are a very easy cookie to make, a little bit of that, some of this, a pinch of whatever, roll the dough into balls then roll around in a cinnamon/sugar mixture then bake for less than 10 minutes.
To make the snickerdoodles, you need 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup butter (1 stick), 1/2 cup shortening, 2 eggs, 2 3/4 cups flour, 2 teaspoons cream of tartar, 1 teaspoon baking soda. In a small bowl, combie 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.

*I halved the recipe when I made it last week

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. In your mixing bowl, cream the butter then add in the shortening.

Pour in the sugar to the butter and shortening then cream together.

Finally, add in the last wet ingredient, the eggs.

Add in all the dry ingredients, the flour, baking soda and cream of tartar.

Roll the dough into balls, about 1 1/4 inches. Roll them around in the cinnamon/sugar mixture and place on a greased cookie sheet.

Snickerdoodles spread out while baking so space them out about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 8-10 minutes then eat these delicious snickerdoodles and while I eat them, I remember my childhood and all the baking adventures I undertook!

Oh I love snickerdoodles!! They are so simply delicious. My mom use to make them all the time and I would always be the one to help "dunk" the batter into the sugar/cinnamon ;) Such a fun and easy recipe. Thanks for sharing :)

YUM. I wish I baked more... or just baked in general, haha. I would totally eat everything though, which is probably why I don't bake that often.

I remember baking chocolate chip cookies in 6th grade and our table failed because the darn class was right before lunch and we ate all the chocolate chips before we started. These cookies look delicious! I always enjoy your posts!
