Caramel, good! Chocolate, goOD! Peanut butter, GOOD! If you put these three all together, what do you have? You have chocolate chip peanut butter caramel bars. Yup, I said it, chocolate chip peanut butter caramel bars. You can kiss the cook later once you make these.
I'm gonna get start to the recipe and let the photos speak for themselves.
To make these bars, you need 1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter, melted, 1 large egg, 1/2 cup light brown sugar, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 4 graham cracker squares, crumbled or chopped up, 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1 can (14oz.) sweetened condensed milk and 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
In your mixing bowl, mix together the melted butter and the brown sugar.
Next add in the egg and the vanilla extract.
Finally, add the flour.
Press the dough into a greased 8X8 pan into an even layer.
Sprinkle on the crumbled or chopped up graham crackers.
Then sprinkle the chocolate chips on top of that.
Lastly, in your mixing bowl, combine the condensed milk and peanut butter until smooth and creamy.
Spread out this mixture on top of the graham crackers and chocolate chip using a spatula to completely coat the three bottom layers.
If any graham cracker crumbs peek through the condensed milk/peanut butter layer push them back under, nothing is worse than burnt graham cracker. Bake these delicious bars in the oven for 28-31 minutes or until top is slightly set. Don't stick a toothpick in these bars to determine if they are baked, you will end up with melted chocolate on the toothpick. Then you have to wait! Waiting is hard but you must do it for at least 3 hours to let these bars set so they cut better. After these bars have set, slice them up and enjoy them for up to a week if left in a tupperware container or they can be frozen up to 6 months.
Enjoy!
