Last Friday night, Sean and I were at Target (I know we know how to live it up) and I was buying ingredients for these caramel chocolate bars called caramelitas. Sean asked me what I was making so I showed him this photo on Pinterest and he said yes, these look delicious!
So I knew these caramelitas would be well received when they were actually make. I hope they will be well received by you too.
Let's make these caramelitas.
First, gather together your ingredients. 32 caramel pieces unwrapped, 1/2 cup heavy cream, 3/4 cup butter melted, 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed, 1 cup flour, 1 cup rolled oats, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 6 oz chocolate chips.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a sauce pan, melt the caramels with the heavy cream and set aside when completely melted.
In your mixing bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, baking soda and melted butter.
Mix until fully incorporated. Press half of this rolled oats mixture into an 8X8 pan.
Bake this half for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, remove the crust from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips.
Then pour the caramel over the chocolate chips and finally, sprinkle the remaining 1/2 rolled oats mixture on top of the caramel.
Bake the bars for 15-20 minutes. Let the bars cool if you can then serve, eat and enjoy! It is as easy as that!
