fall BIG TIME fail...

Every year, Sean and I go apple picking. I went apple picking every year with my family growing up and the first year Sean and I were married, I dragged him out apple picking. That was the only time I dragged him out, since then every year, he looks forward to apple picking as much as me. We have gone on a Saturday, we have gone on a Sunday, we have gone early or later in the afternoon. Every year it is a different story. We have discovered Saturdays are a lot less busier than Sundays. We even tried this year to go on a week day, which they don't allow u-pick on weekdays. So we risked going on a Sunday this year but we thought get there shortly after they open at 10am. Ok, we ended up getting there around 11am but it was a nice, cool and crisp morning. We walked up to the log cabin to get our bag to collect apples and u-pick season was done as of Saturday, we were a day late to pick apples. All week I was preparing my apple menu, apple pie, applesauce, just plain straight eating apples.
So no apple picking photos of us yesterday, just photos of our trip to the apple farm.

First a Starbucks stop, a salted caramel mocha for Sean and a chocolate chai latte for me. P.S. The chocolate chai is super gross, don't waste your money on that drink

Our faces after we found out u-pick was done for the season.

Instead of picking apples we found some pigs and chickens but they weren't u-pick.

Was the laundry u-pick?

We almost asked if the wood was u-pick but we don't have a working fireplace to burn the logs unfortunately.

So overall, we left the farm empty handed with empty stomachs because admit it, who can't resist eating a just picked apple from the tree?
Better luck next year to us and I guess I have to go to the store to buy apples for the apple pie I want to make now.

Aww, that's a shame! Your comment about the pigs and chickens sadly not being u-picks made me laugh though. Hope you're still able to indulge in an apple-centered menu!

Best,

Oh that is so sad! :( Me and my husband were planning on going this week to pick apples, but now I'm wondering if the u-pick will be over here as well. Eek!

Also, agreed. The chocolate chai is a major disappointment.

you are the second so-cal person I know who went all the way out east to pick apples and missed out. we were supposed to go in 2 weeks, but that's obviously off the menu. There is a fun pumpkin patch and corn maze in Moorepark though!

We went to Apple Hill this weekend and it was a ZOO. In fact the first orchard we stopped in had no u-pick apples left!! It was quite a disappointment!

Oh no! I wish we lived somewhere where apple picking was an option. Just think, next year you can go as a family of three. :)

bummer! We don't have many u-pick places, but this would be such a fun annual fall activity!

That's such a bummer! I'm so sorry to hear that! I heard a few other people tried apple picking this weekend and it was a let down. Maybe you all tried hitting up the same spot. Just think next year you'll have a little bundle of joy with you to take to the orchard!!

What? Already?! Last year I went later in the season and we didn't pick our apples but you could still buy them (although they are expensive!). Instead we went to the farm that sells fresh apple donuts :)
