How to Design Your Own Baby Onesies

Ok I know I am only 17 weeks pregnant but I can't help indulge in a few baby items even if we haven't found out the gender of Baby Henning yet. Gender neutral all the way! Except my grandma when I talked to her recently gave me the perfect excuse to find out the gender of our baby before delivery, she stated, "no baby wants to wear yellow ALL the time!" I love my Grandma's logic. I also loved her response when she found out she was going to be a great grandma, she boldly stated, "I want to hold this baby." And hold it of course she shall. She is the only grandparent I have and I will hopefully get a photo of four generations, her, my mom, me and then Baby Henning. Sorry I am digressing.

Back to baby onesies and designing a few yourself, I found a great deal at Old Navy for a 3 pack of 3-6 month old white onesies for $5 and with some fabric paint, the possibilities are endless. 

I wanted to make some polka dots and had the great idea of using wine corks as a stamp for the polka dots. I had a few champagne corks which are thicker, cut the larger part of the cork in half and dipped them in the fabric paint. I used one cork for each color I used. I kept a small paint brush on hand in case some of the paint didn't stamp completely onto the onesie but there was just small parts that didn't stamp. Just make sure you have plenty of paint on the cork before you stamp. 

For the triangle onesie, I had a wood triangle that I found at Michaels that I traced and used a small foam brush to paint in the triangles. 

Let the paint dry for at least 4 hours then you can wash the onesies 72 hours after painting at least according to the directions on the fabric paint I bought.

I made another polka dot onesie.

As I mentioned, the possibilities are endless, you can do a chevron pattern, an Aztec pattern, and use whatever colors you find at your local craft store.
