The stats...

Ok this post is about Baby Henning just a forewarning... the stats, the how we found out, etc. Ill start with a detail I seemed to have left out last week.
How far along am I?
I am currently 13 weeks. My due date is at the end of January, on my favorite oldest aunt's birthday actually. That is a running joke that my favorite oldest aunt and I have by the way, I am her favorite oldest niece.
How we found out and when?
We found out that I was pregnant a few days before Memorial Day, back at the end of May. I suddenly found myself craving a Sonic cherry-limeade, which was weird because I haven't had one of those in years. Also I really wanted red meat, a nice juicy steak. Finally, I was really irritable so much that even Sean made a mention of it. I told him to back off I was getting my period. So when I thought, what the heck I'll take a test just to make sure it was negative, I was in a bit of a shock when the test read pregnant. Thank you Katie for your advice to purchase the word pregnancy test!
How have I been feeling?
Pretty crummy and tired but then again that is typical of the first trimester. Remember my post about being in a rut, yah eating saltines and drinking 7-Up while lying on the couch all day doesn't do much to get the creative juices flowing.
But it is all about attitude, I can get through this period obviously as has millions of women before me. My morning sickness is all day but it gets really bad at night. Seattle was a little rough just with all the walking, feeling sick but the best part was telling my family in person and not having to hid such a big secret from my mom. Sean and I really wanted to tell both sets of future grandparents in person, which we were able to do.
Food-wise?
I went through the consistent diet of Sprite/7-Up and saltines, then I found that small bowls of cereal consistently throughout the day helped to ease the nausea. Some days food tastes wonderful, other days, I have no interest in food. I have a new found love for lemonade. The biggest food aversion has been sugar, I haven't wanted it as the thought of baking then eating makes me want to vomit.
Support?
Sean has been wonderful, picking up the extra work around the house that I am too tired to get done, he is always asking if he can get me something and so far I have only asked him to pick up fish tacos for dinner one night, other than that no grocery store run for sudden cravings. A friend of mine from middle school is pregnant and we share the same due date and that has obviously brought us closer. We were both feeling crummy together and encouraging each other through texts and calls. It has been to have a blessing!

*I will do a full disclosure now so as not to disappoint any of you, I won't be doing a weekly bump update on my blog. I will post updates and photos here and there but it won't be a consistent weekly blog addition. I don't feel the need to tell you if my belly button is in or out or if my wedding rings are on or not. It is wonderful for those bloggers who do but it isn't for me.

p.s. All that pomp and circumstance for the new Royal Prince yesterday is normal for all new babies leaving the hospital, right? Ok, good because I expect nothing less ;-)

Such lovely news Meg! I wouldn't mind daily updates on Baby Henning :) That's wonderful you got to tell both families in person, though exhaustion is never the greatest travel companion. Take good care of yourself lady!! We can't wait for January!

Great when you have good support around you, especially when you're feeling really bad. I think my first pregnancy, my husband ate a million scrambled eggs because that's all the energy I could muster up! Yay for new squishy babies in the future!

I craved lemonade early on too, and my sugar cravings just kicked in about Week 33, so perhaps yours will come back too!

Are you finally feeling better?

So, so fun! Yay! I totally understand not doing the bumpdates. I did, but that's because I didn't want to forget a thing...so if you're even slightly nostalgic, write it all down somewhere! It's fun to look back on and compare/help your friends too!

Oh my gosh! I had to jump right down here and post a comment about the favorite oldest thing. That's a joke between my dad and I! I am his favorite oldest daughter, and I often sign cards and such, YFOD (your favorite oldest daughter). Cool you do something similar!

I must say your first paragraph had me a little worried. I was having strange cravings for broccoli (so random) and have feeling super irritable. I also chalked it up to my monthly visitor. But now I am thinking...

Te-he he, yes of course! I will be on the front steps with a trumpet in hand. No promise if it will be played though.

Yay! I was just reading through some of my favorite blogs (I have a minute...amazing!) and am so glad for your little update. The morning sickness will get better, I felt that way all through November/December: just awful. I never did bump updates either, didn't want the blog to turn into a baby/pregnancy blog and it hasn't! But I liked posting occasional maternity photos, or when I found a really cute maternity outfit to show off, or when I just needed to vent and be real with my readers - people like that! So happy for you Meg!!

Hope the morning sickness passes quickly! So excited for you two!

Congrats! Did you know that a lot of hospitals play the Lullaby song when a baby is born? On busy days, I heard it up to six times in a day!
