Once a Subway Traveler, Always a Subway Traveler

With our friends in town this past weekend, Sean and I wanted to do something different, something you can't do every day and something we haven't done with our friends, Joey and Nicole in the past. The agenda for our Saturday? Ride the subway into LA and explore as much as we could in a day and boy did we do a lot!
I mention once a subway traveler, always a subway traveler because that is what I took every single day when my family and I live in Japan, which was all four years of high school for new readers. So Saturday, we spent $6 each to ride the Metro system, either subway or bus, all day long. We took the subway into L.A.'s union station.

Once we got to Union Station, we walked over to Phillip's to have a french dip sandwich, a 75 cent glass of lemonade and if anyone wants their cup of coffee is 45 cents.

L.A.s Chinatown was just a short walk over and Saturday was the New Year's festival celebrating the year of the snake with a 2 hour parade so we stayed... but not 2 hours.

This was the first part of our L.A subway experience on Saturday and tomorrow I will share the second half of our very filled and very fun day.

Looks like fun! Sounds quite similar to our Saturday, but we headed to SF instead. :) And living in Japan? Gah, so cool! That must've been quite the experience. Happy Monday!

What a fun afternoon! I so wish Seattle had a subway station. I work from home, but when I do go into work I always take the bus. But a subway would be amazing!

Fun!! I've never been on the subway before. I love that brick wall with all the graffiti! Glad you got to see some friends. And can I just say, your hubby is super hot and you two make such a cute couple! :) Haha.

Wow what a fun packed day. Can you actually get around LA with out a car?? When I lived in Seattle I worked with someone from LA and she said the only people to ride the trains were the criminal element. That does not seem to be the case anymore. Wow I can not imagine being able to get around LA via a train. That sounds great!
