No Fairy Wings, Pixie Dust or Green

It is Monday and Monday mornings usually mean an extra large cup of coffee for me whether working or not, so bring on that coffee with flavored creamer, please.
This weekend meant two things, a jack russell terrier fun day and the half marathon and of course church was mandatory in the schedule.

Let me explain what a jack russell fun day is by first explaining that jack russell can get involved in competitions. There are a series of events that jack russells compete in to show off their agility, their hunting skills and their speed. A fun day was simply a day for the jacks to practice doing these events plus it really tires them out and every once in awhile a jack russell needs some fun time too.
Kip showed off his champ skills in the racing trying to catch a lure that looks like a rat along with 5 other jacks at the same time. First jack through the finish at the end is the winner. The second event he participated in was the go to ground where the jack has to work his way through an above ground tunnel to get to the rat at the end of the tunnel. The rat is in a cage so no rats are harmed in the event.
Yes, it sounds crazy that us Jack Russell owners bring their dogs to events like these but it helps hone their natural instinct of hunting by going through tunnels to find the rat and racing to get the animal looking object first.
This was the result of the fun day Kip and Kimbia had on Saturday and this was at 3pm and they barely moved from that spot the rest of the day.
Sunday's snapshots

Sunday's snapshots:
The top right photo was taken at 4:30am, please forgive my tired look and the only way I could look better was to change the photo to black and white. Don't judge. The bottom right is my support system after the 3:10am wake-up call. The race started at 5am. I didn't train for this half like I did the two I did last week, I was given 13 days advance notice that I was running yesterday so i figured well do my best. I was hoping that I could cross the finish line by sunrise which was 6:55am so I could say I literally ran a half marathon before the sun came up. My finish time, 1:49:03, with 6 minutes to spare before sunrise. Yesterday's race was the motivation I need to really start running again. Since October, when I did my last half marathon, my running has been constant at least 5 days a week but it hasn't been very good and not very fulfilling. I felt like I flew through the miles yesterday, 1 down 2, down before I knew it there were only 2 miles left and I felt great the whole run. In fact, the race left me jazzed all day. Ever get that feeling?
I felt out of place not wearing anything Disney-related especially fairy wings, anything green or pixie dust but there is always next year...
Now tell me what did you do this weekend?

What a fun weekend! Congrats on finishing the half!

Also, I LOVE that you let your pups participate in those competitions. My parents have a jack russell themselves, so I know how they LOVE those kinds of activities. They look EXHAUSTED (and super happy)!
