Chocolate Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

In my household, we always have bananas for my husband. I don't buy more than 2 or 3 bananas at a time because he won't eat them fast enough. However, if he doesn't eat them in time before they turn brown and mushy, then I have two options of how to use them up. I make dog treats or I make banana bread. This time past I made banana bread, I didn't make just any banana bread, I made chocolate chocolate chip banana bread. So if you have bananas in your house, and they aren't quite ripe enough for banana bread, wait just a few days and then make this recipe. You have to have 3 bananas for this recipe so keep that in mind and enjoy this bread when you make it!
First, gather together your ingredients: 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 cup white sugar, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 2 large eggs, 1/2 cup melted and cooled butter, 3 ripe bananas, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/2 cup chocolate chips, 1/2 cup walnut or pecans. I didn't have any any nuts when I baked this recipe so I didn't include them. If you are using nuts, I use suggest toasting them before you add them into the recipe, they make the recipe so much richer.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. If you plan on toasting the nuts, spread them on a baking sheet in a single layer and toast them for 8-10 minutes. Let the nuts cool before you add them into the batter.
In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, then add the eggs, butter and vanilla. Mix all these ingredients together thoroughly.

Add in all the dry ingredients, the flour, cocoa powder, white sugar and baking powder.

Incorporate the ingredients all together and use a spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl so the ingredients get combine completely. Add in the chocolate chips and nuts if you are adding them in. Then mix, mix, mix!

In your greased bread pan, pour the entire contents into the pan, scraping down the sides to get all the batter into the pan.

Bake the banana bread for 55 to 65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Let the bread cool, take it out of the pan, then slice it, serve it, eat and enjoy!
