PSA!!

I posted already this morning, I know, sorry you get a second one from me but this is only because I feel it is very important that I just have to spread the word!
Any pet owners should definitely micro-chip your dog or cat, please people!! I received this coupon on my email for 50% and it is better to have it done than not have it done. Your pets are part of your family and it would be terrible if they somehow escaped or got lost, so to make sure a member of your family is always returned, micro-chip them.
Real quick a story: About two summers ago, my husband was having a team practice up in some woods near our home and he brought Kip along with him. Along the trail there was another team who had found a dog without a collar and because Sean had Kip, the team asked Sean to take the missing dog back home with him. Well it was a Saturday so the dog stayed with us all weekend and on Monday after work, I took the dog to the vet and thank goodness, she has a chip in her. So the vet assistant called the owners while I stayed with the dog and to see the look of the owners face reunited with their dog after she has been missing for over 48 hours was priceless. And all the more reason to get your pets micro-chipped, please! Use the coupon if you need to!

Thank goodness I've never lost any of my dogs, but I would be a wreck without my Olive! She came to us microchipped, but we definitely would have gotten it done if she hadn't. Definitely necessary, even if a dog has a color with contact info.

I have had a dog get lost one time and the whole family was devastated until someone returned her home. I have never heard of this before so thank you for posting it

Oh I agree, this is a must! My little Maggie is definitely micro chipped. Dogs are family and having them lost or missing is so sad. Glad you were able to help reunite the lost pup!

Okay I am going to talk my hubby into this TONIGHT!! We do not have Ernie chipped because he never leaves our side but still, it makes me nervous! And my parents watch him sometimes and I would hate for something to happen (and he was expensive haha)

Ahh, yes a total must!! My dogs were microchipped and even though they have yet to escape, and I would have a total heart attack if they did... At least I know they can be IDed if someone took them into a vet, etc.

I wrote a paper about microchipping in grad school but have never gotten one for Macy. It's about time I did because I would be lost without her!

Ours all have microchips!

Just to let you know...my dog had a horrible reaction to the chip and had to have it removed...had we not taken her to the vet right away she would have died...they will tell you it's 100% safe, but it's not! However, I do think it was just a freaky case and I would get it done in another dog...but we aren't getting it done in our puppy because he's related to her and we don't want to chance it.

I think it is so worth it! Our family pets have never gone missing but I cannot imagine how I would feel if they did!

Definitely a good public service announcement! :) I wish you had a picture of the owners face, I can only imagine the joy she felt after such an incredibly hard weekend.

Girl we need to be real life friends...pet rescuing is a hobby of mine and I agree with you about the microchip! Lost animals just make me so very sad.

ah... first of all that adorable little pup is the same breed as my little Daphne, except she is ruby and white and secondly I do not have her microchipped and I keep meaning too!! Thanks for the reminder!!

Good, good reminder! IMPORTANT TO KNOW, THOUGH: Even if your pet is microchipped, you still have to have the chip registered and pay the $18 fee for a year in order to have all of your personal info put on the chip. Lots of dogs get microchipped but the info doesn't get put in the system so they still don't make it home. MAKE SURE TO PROPERLY REGISTER AND UPDATE YOUR MICROCHIP ONLINE!! :)

I'm so happy you posted this!! There's a chip in my dog too!

SO SO IMPORTANT!!! I work as a vet nurse and we get lost dogs dropped off to our clinic all the time. I'm always happy when we scan them and they have a microchip. If they're not microchipped, we have to call the council and the dogs get taken to the pound. I don't even want to think about what happens to them after that.

It's so easy to do and if done right, it's painless for puppy. Please consider this!!

Yes, microchipping is a MUST!

I totally need to do this with mine! I haven't yet and I would just be devastated if they escaped somehow. My mom rescues lots of strays and the first thing that she does is take them to the vet to see if they have a chip!
