Oh geesh I better do a Thanksgiving re-cap or else Thanksgiving 2013 will be here before I know it and a recap of Thanksgiving 2012 was never posted.
It was a quiet Thanksgiving with just Sean, myself and his parents. Being married is now a combination of Thanksgiving dishes from Sean's family and my family and always some recipes from cooking magazines thrown in there. This year's winner for me was the biscuit dressing from a magazine I received on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, talk about perfect timing! I have never been a fan of dressing but the biscuit dressing looked so yummy and it ended up being very light and oh-so yummy!
Thanksgiving started out with a 5K turkey trot, my running partner and her boyfriend joined in on the fun and it was a surprise to finish 3rd in my age division. Does that mean as I get older the number of runners in my age group decreasing or maybe my running is getting a bit faster?
After the run, it was cooking time. Our menu this year was:
lemon-sage turkey
biscuit dressing
mashed potatoes
crimini mushroom gravy
green beans with lemon zest
Henning cranberry mousse
Mouch cranberry relish
John Henning's (my father in law) cranberry relish
crescent rolls aka banana rolls
pumpkin maple pie
chocolate pecan pie
Ill let the photos do the work.
Even the Kip and Kimbia got some Thanksgiving dinner!
And of course my centerpiece!
Simple spray painted pinecones, a few natural and then my white and grey striped runner, which I painted. For me, the quickest project or best way to spruce up decor is to paint it. In fact, tomorrow I will be sharing with you my painted curtains with grey stripes!
