Trusting in Him

If you are new to my blog, then let me catch you up to my employment situation. I have worked for a Member of Congress for over 6 years and he is not running for re-election this November, which means I am out of a job come the end of his term. I have known this since February and believe me, I have been job searching.
*side note, please don't stop following if you don't like politics, I have never said a word about that here on my blog and not about to either :-)
I have my freak-out moments, and then I have my moments of God is completely in control, which He is all the time but sometimes my human nature takes over and I worry and become anxious. The other night, I was having one of those moments and this is why I am grateful for the man that God provided to me as my husband.
To literally show me more about trust, Sean demonstrated three different layers of trust. He had me stand in our floor and he stood behind me and he said when I trusted him to fall back and of course he caught me. Next he asked me to stand up on top of the beautiful ottomans he made us and told me the same thing, when I trusted him to fall back and of course he caught me again. To demonstrate the next level of trust, he asked me to stand on top of our dining room table. Don't worry, Sean didn't ask me to fall back and he would catch me this time, but he asked me to stand up there to demonstrate if I trusted him in the two previous examples then why wouldn't I trust him now.
My husband is a wise man, isn't it? Actually all of his wisdom comes directly from God's Word. Number one reason why I married him because of his personal relationship with God.
His demonstration of the different layers of trust clearly put things into perspective for me. With facing the possibility of unemployment come December, I have my good days and I have my not so great weeks. Last week was one of them despite some minor good news.  Last week I was having a bit of a pity party on Thursday and Friday.
With the example my husband provided and armed with lots of prayer, I made it through the week and am re-focused this week trusting in Him and His plan for my work situation.

I found out two days ago that I have a job interview on Monday, if you don't mind praying or sending up some good thoughts for me, I would appreciate it :-)

That's awesome! It's amazing how God works sometimes, I stress out over too many things and I find myself wanting to take control of situations when clearly God has a much better plan. Good luck on Monday and even if this isn't the right job at least it's God's way of saying that He's watching over you....

Meg this is so wonderful. Trusting in Him is the ultimate way of believing. I got laid off a week before our wedding and it was devastating but I found comfort in knowing He had a greater plan for me. I will pray that you start to find clarity about your job hunt

Your husband is so wise and so are you! Trusting in God during times of uncertainty is something I am working in this time of my life too! It is a challenge, But I am so thankful we have a God who knows every detail of our lives.

Will definitely say a prayer for you. I'm going through a tough time with my current position and hold a lot of frustration. We just have to keep believing that everything happens for a reason and it will all work out for the best in the end!

Congrats on the interview!! Job searches are the worst! I looked and applied everywhere for 6 months before I found my job and even then I was a temp for 6 months before I was hired full time.

You can do it!

Congrats on the interview, I'll be thinking of you of course. And I think you just gave a wonderful example of why you have Sean and God in your life. As a side note, I do like politics and I know you do too and I think we're on opposite ends of the spectrum and that's okay too, because I think you're pretty awesome. :)

What a blessing to have a husband like him!! I am also grateful for my wise and patient husband. We're in a similar situation, but with his job. He had to recently take a minimum wage job because it's all he could get. Now we are waiting and trusting God for a raise or another job opportunity. He is much better at trusting and waiting than I am!!

I will definitely be praying for you and your interview!!

It's SO hard to trust. I'm finding more and more that I like to be in control. I get uncomfortable in situations where I'm not in control. Thanks for this great reminder to trust in Him.

It's so easy to get anxious over stuff, but you're completely right in that we need to trust that God is always in control. Always.

Also, I just think it is so awesome how supportive your husband is and how he helps you out so much. I wish I saw this more often in relationships. God truly did pick a great man for you! :)

Katie said...

Oh I'm so praying for you! I think its one of the most difficult things to trust that God is in control when things are moving slow or not how we planned...so I'm praying for clarity and patience for you :)
