Seriously my friends I am overwhelmed by the response this hometown series has received and all the amazing bloggers who has participated and shared a little bit of their corner of the world. Today we are heading back East to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. My gal, Meggan, and of course I was attracted to her blog way back when I first started reading it because of her name ;-) is taking the reigns today and showing us around her beautiful hometown.

Hi everyone! My name is Meggan and you can find me over at my blog Lila Grace! I am so excited to be sharing a bit about Fort Lauderdale Florida today! I am originally from New Jersey and since graduating high school I have lived all over the US. I went to undergrand in South Carolina and got my masters in Michigan. Then I lived in Chicago, New York City, Connecticut and finally relocated to South Florida after meeting my now husband!
Fort Lauderdale is about 45 minutes north of Miami and south of West Palm Beach. It is a mid-sized city with about 160,000 people which allows us to have great shopping, restaurants and entertainment but avoid a lot of the hard things about living in a city.

To start off our day in Fort Lauderdale I would definitely recommend breakfast at The Floridian. It is a local diner that has been around for over 60 years! They have the best bacon egg and cheese sandwiches and The Floridian is definitely a staple in Fort Lauderdale. You can find a line out the door on most weekends.

Then we would move onto one of the best things to do in Fort Lauderdale....the beach! The beach proximity is definitely one of the major advantages of living in Fort Lauderdale. I  love laying out at the beach with friends although admittedly I do not go as much as I should.

The W on Fort Lauderdale Beach has one of the best pools and Bliss Spas! Definitely perfect for a day of indulgence!

Another one of my favorite things to do in Fort Lauderdale is shopping on Las Olas Boulevard. Las Olas is like our main street with shopping, restaurants and night life. Here are some of my favorite spots below.
Yolo - One of my favorite restaurants and lounges, they have amazing sliders!

Lunch on the river on Las Olas

Kilwins has the BEST home made ice cream!

Sushi Rock has some of the most amazing sushi I have ever eaten! Definitely recommend having sushi in Fort Lauderdale, everything is so fresh!

The Blue Boutique has the cutest beachy clothing!

And finally Big City Tavern is one of our all time favorite lunch and dinner spots. They have amazing all around food with everything from Pad Thai to incredible burgers!

Lastly, one of my favorite areas of Fort Lauderdale is called Lauderdale by the Sea. It is a sleepy part of Fort Lauderdale, that brings back feelings of the fiftys and sixtys. They have a gorgeous beach, some of the best restaurants and during the "season" (March-May), they have live bands and shut down the streets every Friday night.

Wow that W Hotel looks like pure luxury! Love Florida beaches but I always wonder how a gal manages to keep her hair to look halfway decent there?! Seriously, the humidty always makes me look like a HUGE frizz monster.
