How I keep my Man Happy...

Ok ladies, I am going to show you how I keep my man happy. I make his lunch every day, yes each day. There are three reasons why I do this. First, because it saves us a lot of money. If you think about lunch usually it can be between $5-7 dollars and over a week that is a minimum of $35, ouch! Second reason why I make his lunch because I know he is eating healthy because I packed it. Third reason is because it is a way I show I love and care for him. Ever heard a way to a man's heart
is through his stomach, very true in my marriage!

So to make sure my husband knows his is my number 2 priority (God is my number 1), he gets a homemade lunch every day. Today, I will show you a simple, easy lunch you can make for your man or even for yourself on a Sunday, then freeze it and reheat for lunch during the week and you get two meals out of this recipe, what is calzones, basically a folded over pizza!

The great thing about this lunch recipe is you can use whatever veggies or meat you might have leftoe, I know you have a jar of spaghetti sauce in your refrigerator and some mozzarella cheese too. All you need to do is make or buy some pizza dough (I picked mine up at Trader Joe's (it is a garlic and herb dough), but Fresh n Easy has some too.) Or you can go to your favorite Italian restaurant that serves pizza and ask them if you can buy some dough.
First, gather together your ingredients. Pizza dough, spaghetti or marinara sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, and meat and veggie toppings you usually like on your pizza.

Let the dough rest out of the package for about 20 minutes and to warm up to room temperature. While the dough is resting, preheat the oven according to the directions from where you got your dough. In this case it was 450 degrees. Once that is done, chop up the ingredients you are stuffing your calzone with. In this case, I used some mushrooms, leftover bell pepper, some pepperoni and some fresh mozzarella. I also had some shredded mozzarella cheese as well.
Divide the dough in half so you have two portions. Spread some flour on the counter to roll out the pizza dough. Roll out each portion of dough in a circular rectangle shape.

Place the dough in a baking sheet. Spoon some spaghetti sauce onto half of the dough, you will fold over the dough so you don't want to spoon the sauce out like you would for a pizza.

Spread out your topping onto the sauce, then add some mozzarella cheese.

Fold over the dough to make an envelope and pinch, crimp, press the ends of the dough together super super hard so the ingredients would spill out while baking in the oven.

Pop your calzones into the oven for the required cooking time, the dough would be a golden brown.

Then take the calzones out of the oven, let them cool then wrap them and pop them in the freezer if you aren't going to eat them right away. If you are, then serve, eat and enjoy!

p.s. did you enter the giveaway for the beautiful earrings and Shabby Apple necklace
Both end tomorrow!

What a good little wifey you are! I do this occassionally for Ryan but not as often as I should/want to. It's awful to see how much we spend on lunch during the week when we don't pack our lunches!

Calzones are so delish. We had an awesome joint in college called Stromboli's that had the best calzones. I haven't had one since then. I think it's time!! Must make.

Yum! I will have to try this recipe. My girlfriend was taught by her dicipleship leader that a woman needs cook her man food, and rise when he rises; those are the two secrets.

I love how simple and easy this is. I keep telling the boyfriend to let me make him lunch (he spends up to $10 a day buying lunch in downtown SF) but he insists on getting his "little treat" everyday. Oh well.

Meg these look absolutely delicious! I love that you can use whatever veggies you like! Calzones would be great for mark and I to make because he love pepperoni and all that on his pizza and I tend to stick to veggies! Calzones are the perfect solution!

We make pizza alllll of the time, but I forgot about making calzones. What a fun twist! I think it's really sweet that you make your husband's lunch every day. That is such a sweet way to show him how much you care! Rob comes home for lunch just about every day.
