I love brownies except I have never found a great scratch made brownie recipe. If you have one, I would love for you to share it with me, pretty please with a cherry on top :-) I allow brownie mixes to give me that satisfying brownie chewiness. The brownies I usually mix I might throw in some chocolate chips or nuts, but fruit I have never done that before! Nor do I usually put frosting on top of my brownies. But this recipe intrigued me for some reason, blackberry brownies with lemon frosting. What do you think?
First gather all your ingredients together.
For these brownies you need a box of brownie mix preferably with chocolate chips in it or you can add your own in if you would like. You also need 3 tablespoons of blackberry jam, 1/3 cup of vegetable oil, 1/2 cup water, 1 egg and a handful of actual blackberries for garnish.
For the frosting you need 3 tablespoons of softened butter, 2 1/4 cup of confectioners sugar, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 3/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1/4 teaspoon of grated lemon zest, 1 tablespoon of milk.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and prepare your 8X8 square baking pan. In your mixer, combine the blackberry jam, the water, oil and egg and mix together thoroughly.
Then add in the brownie mix and mix thoroughly again.
Pour the brownie batter into your pan and pop it in the oven for 45-50 minutes.
Take your brownies out and let it cool before you spread the frosting on top. I made my brownies a day ahead just so I wasn't rushed and I knew they were properly cooled.

Are you kidding me with this delicious sounding treat?!! I want one!! Love all your pics Meg!
Yum-o! Brownies with frosting are already a major score for me, but this combo sounds amazing! I'm kinda obsessing over a Sprinkles' cupcake that is blueberry lemon...SO GOOD. Great...now I'm hungry! (c:
I am intrigued! I love brownies but I would never think to add fruit to them. Or lemon icing! I might have to give these a try soon :)
gosh these pictures just made me gain 10 pounds. I LOVE chocolate! Totally gonna have to try these.
These look absolutely incredible!!! I am definitely going to make them for my family sometime this weekend. And I LOVE Ghiradelli brownies! When I lived in Chicago, the sub shop down the street sold these giant, Ghiradelli brownies. My friends and I would order just two of them and ask for delivery in the cold, winter months :)
It looks delicious! Enjoy the fabulous day, Kellie xx
YUM!!! I'm totally a fan of fudgey brownies, and these look great. My mom makes raspberry brownies somethings where she pours raspberry jam on top of the brownies before baking and then tops them off with chocolate chips...I can try to find the recipe if you want, because they are soo good :)
Yum! My hubby would love these! I usually just make brownies with a box too :) so much easier!
um, these sound and look amazing!
I might have to try these! I got invited to a girls' night on Friday and this would be the perfect dessert to share. Thanks!!!
Oh these look amazing and perfect for summer! YUM!

What a cool combo! Thanks for sharing!
THe blackberry addition sounds INCREDIBLE. I can't find a recipe I like more than boxed brownies....lol
I have always felt like chocolate frosting on top of a brownie kind of ruins it. I am intrigued by the lemon frosting idea though, especially paired with the blackberries!
lemon frosting sounds SO good! thanks for sharing!
Yum!!!! I don't think you can go wrong with the Ghiradelli's brownie mix. That's my go-to dessert :). Nothing beats it! Great food pictures!!!
OK...this looks SO SO good!! Bookmarked it to try asap!
Pinning this. My husband will die and go to heaven when I make them.
