Guest Post -- Emily of Sprout Through Concrete

Happy Sunday all! Who doesn't love a DIY decoration? It can be relatively cheap, and when your friends are oohing and aawing over some decoration you have in your house, you can proudly tell them you make yourself and take all the credit! Today you are privileged to have the company of Emily from Sprout through Concrete. I met her a few weeks ago during her blog feature about if you could go anywhere in the world where would you travel to and she has been one of the nicest people to me since I "met" her.  Remember lots of blog love for all these sweet guest posts you have this week? Thanks!

Hi everyone! I'm Emily from Sprout Through Concrete. I recently moved and, with the tole of expensive city living, I've had to be creative in my apartment decor.

A quick and oh-so-cute DIY decor idea that I love to use is putting flowers in wine bottles. Not only is this "vase" easy to do but it looks very chic. I have a wine bottle with flowers in it next to my nightstand and on my kitchen counter - in both areas it's a perfect accessory and really adds character to the room.

I also love this idea as a centerpiece for anything from weddings to dinner parties. Especially if wine is on the menu, you can't go wrong.

Do you have other decor ideas for wine bottles? Thanks so much to Meg for inviting me to guest post!"

I've been wanting to do this for a while but always forget to save the wine bottles! Now I'm going to try extra hard to remember! You can also spray paint them to your favorite color.

I love having flowers in wine bottles. I've saved a few and I'm thinking about painting them. I like that lace bit in the bottom left photo!

I was going to take the garbage out yesterday and then got too busy and forgot. LUCKY FOR ME, because there was an empty wine bottle sitting, waiting to go to the curb! I have been meaning to buy fresh flowers, but stalling because I don't have a vase. Such a perfect idea, and eco-friendly :) I also like to use wine bottles as gifts for infused oils. For example, fill a wine bottle with olive oil and put in some garlic. Let it sit for a few days/weeks before you give it out as a gift. You can infuse it with all sorts of herbs and spices!

Hmm...how else would I use them? I've seen people melt them down to make beautiful cheese trays. But I think you need a kiln for that. Any chance you have a kiln? ;)

This is such a cute idea! I do love having flowers around my house :) As for other uses, I've seen people melt down candles in them and make a cool looking centerpiece. But I like the flowers the most!

These are so cute. I like to save wine corks and show them off in a big jar (it's not THAT big...I don't drink THAT much, lol). It's a fun collection to display though since cork has a variety of textures and colors.

Thanks again for the guest post, Meg! I ironically saw flowers in a tequila bottle at a cafe on Sunday and snapped a pic to post on Twitter. They're so cute!
Hope you had a great weekend!

Thanks for swinging by my blog the other day! I'm a huge fan of using bottles and mason jars that are on hand as impromtu flower vases. Some have such pretty labels or shapes that it's hard to throw them in the recycling bin.

So cute! I am redoing my master bedroom right now and may use this! I saw something on Pinterest the other day that I may combine here ... I think I'll do a piece of burlap tied around a wine bottle in a bow! Thanks for the idea!
